I have been quilting since the summer of 1989. I was 7 years old about to turn 8 and my grandmother thought that it was the perfect time to learn the great tradition of quilting. We decided that I would enter the same quilt show that she was participating in. So, we proceeded to gather her scraps and mix and match until we had enough different fabrics and colors to create a 6×6 9-patch quilt. It was a great experience and I even won best in show for my age group! (Little fun fact: I was the only one in my age group. ;-)). I have since gone on to make other quilts, but never really felt connected to the quilts. A few years ago I was looking for something to help reduce stress in my life; a way to sort of unplug and get back to my roots. Then it hit me like a brick; I need to start quilting again!
So there I was in my early 30’s thinking it was time to pick up quilting again, but not wanting to do the same old thing. I want my quilts to inspire to the new modern quilter…those of us who love the hobby but don’t have a lot of time to devote to it. I like to find a pattern and re-invent it using modern precut fabrics. I can’t wait to bring you step-by-step tutorials, fun finds, and tips n’ tricks (as I remember them and/or discover them).
