Until Next Time, Happy Quilting,
Hey Everyone! It’s time for another blog tour and this one is super fun! I get to show you some of Trick or Treat by Carta Bella for Penny Rose Fabrics.
If you’ve followed me for awhile you know I usually, well actually pretty exclusively, only make quilts for blog tours, but I thought I’d switch it up this time. Who doesn’t like a good Halloween wallhanging? For this project you’ll need the following –
- Dresden ruler
- Rotary Ruler
- Rotary Mat
- Cotton Batting
- Fusible Batting or Fleece
- Googly Eyes
- Black Pipe Cleaners
- Letters ‘E,K,!” Printed on 8 1/2″ x 11″ Paper
- Fabric – See below for requirements…note: you will have extra fabric..probably enough to make two.
- Also note – the Orange fabric used in this project is Riley Blake Cotton Shade Basics in Tangerine and the black is Riley Blake Confetti Cottons Basics in Black.
What do you say? Ready to get started?
Join us for our newest Quilting from ‘Square’ One Series –
Half Square Triangles!
Follow along on our YouTube channel as we teach you five different techniques for making half square triangles. Your kit comes with all of the precut pieces you need to learn each technique as well as the Creative Grids multi-size triangle 45/900 ruler.
Kit Includes –
- Everything to make the front of the quilt –
- Transformation Fabric by Sarah Vedeler for Contempo in 6 shades
- Solid Kona White Fabric
- All fabric is precut for each specific technique
Finished Quilt Size – ~48″x55″
What techniques will be taught?
1) Half Square Triangles from 5″ Squares or Charm Packs
2) Magic 8 Method from 10″ Squares or Layer Cakes
3) Cross-four Method from 7″ Squares
4) Strip Method from 3 1/2″ Strips
5) Traditional Ruler Method from Creative Grids 45/90 Ruler
I see six different colors but only five methods, how do we get the sixth?
We give you enough fabric for you to pick your favorite method from the five we show you so you can practice and perfect the technique.
How much is shipping?
Shipping is always free at both our main website and our Etsy store.
Is there a cost for the tutorials?
Not at all, our YouTube channel is 100% free. While we would love for you to buy the kit we know that you may have other fabrics in mind and that’s totally fine. In fact, if you see something else in our store you’d like we’ll gladly ship you the yardage at the kit price; it just won’t be cut to the tutorial specifications. (You need 2 yards of a solid and 2 yards of a print to make the pinwheels or just 4 yards total to make the front of the quilt)
That’s great that you have tutorials, but what if I get stuck along the way?
We’re always here to help. If you get stuck just reach out to us at email@example.com and we’ll gladly assist in any way we can.
What if I mess up?
You will end up having some spare precuts as a backup. Also, As with all of our tutorials and block of the month clubs if you mess up please contact us and we’ll do our best to help get you back on track. If we have the fabric in stock we’ll gladly send you more fabric in what we call an ‘oopsie kit’ with free shipping.
I see the kit doesn’t include binding or backing; can I order that as well?
Of course, just select the variation under the kit and add it to your cart as well. Be sure to double check your color. Stock is limited so we encourage you to purchase your backing and binding at the same time. Once we’re sold out; we’re sold out.
How much backing and binding fabric do I need if I’m not using the kit?
Backing – 3 1/2 Yards
Binding – 1/2 Yard
I don’t want to go through all of the methods but I love the quilt. Can I order a kit just using, say, the 5″ square method?
Absolutely! Simply select the ‘5″ Square Only Kit’ and we’ll create a kit for you with all of the colors, but just in 5″ Squares. Same goes for 10″ squares, 7″ squares, 3.5″ strips & 3.5″ strips.
Where can I find the videos? The videos are available on our YouTube site. Click here to watch them or to check out our other tutorials. We have uploaded a sample below so you can see how they look.
Brr it’s cold outside! Fall/Winter has finally hit North Texas and I could not be happier. I don’t have to turn on my air conditioner today and can even wear long sleeves. It’s also my college’s rival football game today (GO BOBCATS!) so I am desperately searching for an online source to get a local Montana channel…wish me luck.
Who is ready to bind this quilt? I know I am! Let’s get started…
Hi Everyone! All of us put a lot of hard work into our craft and we should be signing it similar to how a painter signs their canvas. That’s where a quilt label comes in handy and is essential in finishing off your quilt. Here is a quick DIY label tutorial for you!
